Board of Directors
All powers shall be exercised by and the business and affairs of the corporation shall be managed under the direction of the Board of Directors. The Board shall consist of no more than 25 persons who have demonstrated a general interest and concern for, as well as an ability to decide and address issues impacting upon elementary and secondary education in Rockingham County, Virginia.

Joining the REFI Board of Directors is a meaningful way to support students and schools across Rockingham County. Board members play an important role in shaping the future of the foundation by helping guide its mission, supporting strong decision-making, and serving as ambassadors in the community. Board service includes attending meetings, learning about REFI’s programs, engaging with local schools, and giving back in ways that are personally meaningful. REFI is committed to supporting its board members with clear communication, shared leadership, and opportunities to connect with the impact of the work. We welcome individuals who are passionate about education and interested in making a lasting difference.
Board members are expected to attend five regular board meetings and one half-day retreat each year, and to serve on at least one committee. Committees include Development, Governance, Educational Resources, and the Teacher Supply Depot, allowing members to contribute in ways that match their interests and skills.

REFI Council Members

Each school in Rockingham County Public Schools is invited to designate one representative to serve on the REFI council. In addition to acting as ambassadors for REFI, the group will serve as a focus group, offering valuable feedback on procedures and the most effective ways to facilitate programs. Their insight and perspectives play an important role in strengthening REFI’s impact.
Council members help communicate REFI activities within their schools, support fundraising efforts for the annual campaign, and introduce REFI to new teachers. They serve as a direct link between REFI and each school, ensuring clear communication and smooth implementation of programs.
